I've heard all of these songs way too many times to not notice their differences

I'd argue almost all of the songs here are practically perfect, but to each their own. Album just flows so well.

not really a fan of the way young lovers do :/

kinda takes me out of the flow of the album. and slim slow slider is kinda underwhelming to me. but basically everything else is perfect

Fair enough, I can definitely understand the take on The Way Young Lovers Do. Slim Slow Slider has always been one of my favorites though, such a beautiful sad closing track.

The Way Young Lovers Do is immaculate, can’t believe this reviewer gave it a 3/5.

the title track is still amazing, ''if I ventured in the slipstream..'' for being such an unrelenting asshole Van Morrison sure can convey the most fragile emotions in his music.

Efrim Menuck from GYBE, once said he loved this albums production and the album in general he described it as something like ''held together by scotch tape'' (paraphrase because I can't find the interview anymore.)

To be fair I’m not sure the VM spewing nonsense now is the same VM that wrote magic like this over half a century ago. Of course it’s physically the same man but fifty-plus years can change someone lol.

no he was always a real prick, apparently. Just ask most people in the music business who had interacted with him/interviewers. he's extremely honest, sullen, and just miserable. if you interview him, for example he's the kind to give you like one to two word answers then like insult you personally just to do it. he's that kind of antisocial personality. I asked some Irish people about him one time, given that he's one of the great exports, musically from Ireland, and one of them called him a piss soaked rag or something like that haha.

But yeah he has had a brutal reputation for being intimidating and uncooperative for decades now.

never listened to this. kinda remember trying and thinking that the songwriting was "not dynamic enough" but it's so acclaimed and sounds cool in theory and that was a while ago. will try again
