No it's not weird. However, most of Marillion fans are digging Genesis hard. But if you like Genesis (symphonic prog rock), you don't automatically have to like Marillion (neo prog)

I feel like Marillion focus a lot more on lyrics compared to a lot of other prog bands in that era and not as much guitar/keyboard wankery. Everything serves a purpose musically.
