If you grew up in the UK as a working class child of the late 70's and 80's with some specific family circumstances as I did then this record really resonates and brings the feels. Add in that my first gf introduced me to the band's records and it's a bit of a perfect storm. My favourite album by the band.

I listened to the first couple of Fish solo records and they had their moments. I was reading recently that he collaborated with Steven Wilson on some of his later solo stuff which I'm interested to try.

I grew up in a tranquil welfare state and this still really resonates and brings the (vicarious) feels.

It's weird, in like 6th grade, me and another boy listened a lot to this and somehow he totally understood the heartbreak of "the toughest thing that I ever did was talk to the kids on the phone".

Something I didn't really get for several years.

I was about to comment on how I should bump this to a 5 but I forget I already did it

For me, it's closer to a 4. There are songs that stand out, and some others that are good but not great, or some I'm kinda tired to listen to. Fish is in a good shape, as usual.

All we know is it didn't age well. When I play this for new listeners they are immediately turned off by the strong 80's vibes this apparently has.
