Fuck man he really is, the dude could play circles around every other lead player in the scene at the time. Pretty sure he was one of the first to use tapping in a rock band too

Yeah he was.

What's even more impressive about him as the fact that, as you said, he could play circles around every other guitarist in prog but he was always really tasteful with his guitar parts and never went overboard, even on his solo albums when he had complete control over everything.

Yeah dude, I really can't think of a more memorable but simple and restrained solo than firth's. Even though I think banks wrote the notes for the piano originally, the way hackett plays it and utilizes amp feedback to get that huge amount of sustain is just fucking brilliant
