This is my second favourite Cryptopsy
I love the songwriting on Endless Cemetery, the way they tease that kind of chorus riff that Flo screams over and then it finally hits 🤘🏻

This is Cryptopsy's Obscura imo, an album where they go in a completely different direction and just throw every concept they had previously used out of the window. Whilst it's never as discordant as that record, it's got so many batshit ideas and it almost always lands the plane as well. Angelskingarden's solo, and The End in general just rip so hard

The promo release of The Pestilence That Walketh in Darkness frightened most all fans of the band, me included. Though when I began to play this album, I was immediately entranced by the sweet acoustic playing on Luminium. It had a great melody and set a somber mood for the album. But alas, virtually every aspect of the album was downhill as soon as In the Kingdom... began to play.
Good lord this review fucking blows.

Yeah this album is crazy underrated, I listened to this shit SO much in high school
Words cannot explain how hype it was back in the day that Lord Worm was returning, even if he didn't sound like he did on None So Vile

Album rules, agreed. Lots of wicked technicality on offer here.

I can make a serious argument about this being their Grand Declaration of War rather than their Obscura
but then again with both GDOF and OWN I kinda wanted to like them based on their ideas alone. cryptopsy pull it off better than Mayhem did, for sure. but still not that cohesive for me to really enjoy it. I'll give it another go eventually.

Good to see this getting some love. Criminally underrated. its quirky and odd at times, but that's part of the charm. Still plenty of heavy cryptopsy insanity as well
