It is great, but easily their weakest. Lack of audible bass really brings it down imo, despite the songs being totally enjoyable.

I don't remember liking this one much... it'd be interesting to revisit at some point though, now the initial disappointment has long worn off.

I consider this to be one of Interpol's best.

It's pretty good, yeah.

I think Interpol is one of those (relatively) few bands where I'm in agreement with Sputnik's averages... from TOTBL through to this one it's a steady decline. That means I should probably listen to 'El Pintor' given it's average.

Funny enough, El Pintor is probably my favorite record of theirs.

"from TOTBL through to this one it's a steady decline"
true (at least up to our love), and quite a drastic one at that, to the point that i have never had any desire to listen to this. el pintor was cool enough but totbl is these days pretty much their only album i ever come back to

'totbl is these days pretty much their only album i ever back to'
I'm listening now... it's still got it (relieved). I can't imagine not at least enjoying 'Evil' or 'Heinrich' whether I'd sit through the whole album is another matter, hoping I would.

I thought El Pintor was quite strong

boring asf
no memorable anything
begone is the slick feel of prior albums
and i know carlos had left by self titled already but no good bass in el pintor as compared 2 self titled
|

True, if it had the type of bass playing that Antics had it would be even better.

I can see a dark psych Bowie in this one...less rock for sure but more interesting than it first may look

This has grown on me a lot, it really is underrated, I do understand the initial wave of disappointment however.
