This album has so many great moments on it. "Progenies..." gets a lot of flak, but goddamn, that soft section in the middle is amazing. "Vredesbyrd" is absolutely storming, but I love how they cut it up with chunky riffs between parts. "Allehelgens..." I swear has the best example of clean vocals in a black metal song. It's like all the evil in that song just breaks and a ray of golden sunshine erupts from behind a cloudy sky and surrounds ICS as he sings. ITS SO BEAUTIFUL. "Cataclysm Children" riffs hard af, and "Eradication Instincts Defined" has probably the best use of orchestra. It kind of wanders, but it creates such a cool soundscape.
I get why this band gets shat on, and I get why some people wouldn't like this album but gee whiz, this is great.
