I just wish I hadn't missed the party yesterday. This review was filled with so many ridiculous arguments that I couldn't help but comment.

I wasn't dissing AIC (couldn't tell if you think I was or not);

No, I'm on your side.

The fact that this thread is still going says a lot about the average intellectual level on this site

It's always more fun to complain than to find something you like.

you have to remember, you have to be an elitist on here to survive,

Not necessarily. I'm not so much an elitist as I am a tool. I just know how to pick my battles.

The same thing would happen if "intellectual" albums like As the Roots Undo, Lifeless, M Post pavillion, etc were trashed with a one rating and incorrectly accused to vaulting a reviled genre.

Music on this album hasn't stood the test of time, but when it was released it had serious immediate impact, and that needs to be noted. Saying that, I can understand why a younger listener encountering it now would think it a redneck piece-of-shit. I also agree that the mixing of the album is shit.

I was around 20 when Vulgar was released in 1992 and it's still a classic. I saw Pantera twice in concert in the early 90s and they were huge at this time. I'm a fan of many genres of music and many genres of metal. If I like a song or artist, I'll embrace it no matter what the genre. Post Pantera Nu Metal bands don't feature a lot on my ipod, but I don't care if Greenman calls them Nu, I still love their music, especially the Vulgar, Beyond Driven and Trendkill albums. Your reasons for not liking Pantera are too personal, you're applying your own prejudice on a band whom you claim are prejudiced. Music taste is subjective, you can dislike Pantera, but I believe your opinion is overly critical and your judgement clouded. Even though I disagree with your review, it is very well written. On the technical front, you're too pedantic. How the hell do you enjoy any music? I don't care so much how the music is made or presented, but how it sounds. You say Pantera fans are narrow minded and stick to the mainstream, well not this one. In addition to heaps of non-metal, here's some of the prog/rock/heavy bands I like: Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, J Priest, 80s Metallica, Sepultura, Slayer, Anthrax, Kyuss, Monster Magnet, C.O.C, Down (Phil Anselmo!!!), Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Neurosis, Isis, Cult of Luna, Cradle of Filth, Napalm Death, The Ocean.........The variety and obscurity goes much further than this more well known list of bands.
