Amazing gateway album, this and Hangman's Hymn got me into the band. This is like Hangman's Hymn part 2 (in a way) but also has its own charm.

This is in no way at all Hangman's Hymn part 2, they are completely different albums in every single way possible.
|
| |
yeah hangman's hymn is completely different unless you're viewing them in the fact that both use non-rock instruments and that's stupid because then that would mean gybe is like unexpect

i love how unique this band is.
however im not sure how much i like this album. At times i felt a 4.5, where at other times it was a 3 because of how similar the songs are in feel and speed.
future listens will fix this. 3.5 for now

relistened to this probably a week ago after months of leaving it, still love it
everything just feels so perfectly constructed in it's own unique way

So glad you agree, Meatplow - this goes unnoticed it seems and is vastly underrated.

it's just one of those albums that proves to me repeated listening in different moods over time can really change the context of how you initially perceive things
to me it sounded like such rubbish at first, but somehow it just clicked. on observation of the criticisms here all I have to defend it with is that it shouldn't be seen as having any semblance of a traditional BM sound, this is own lumbering monstrosity, a mess, granted, but a highly calculated one.
It's just so much fun to listen to, has earnt a place within my favourites. I still have to hear the other Sigh albums
