Yeah I don't get the cult status of this album. Same as Sarcofago's INRI. I never got why they are so hyped... The only song I somehow truly enjoy is Nocturnal Evil...

inri is hyped because sarcofago were very influential on classic norwegian bm, and being referenced by fenriz in particular gave them serious exposure outside brazil - in reality they were not the only ones doing that kind of music both within and without their country

this is hyped because it has a relatively unique sound for black metal of its time, death/doom influenced and filthy ... off the top of my head canada's blasphemy arguably did it first and then us' goatlord, and i think this is on par with those for sure... there was also archgoat from finland but theyre just a discount blasphemy tbh

yeah going through a bit of it again just to make sure... the guitars and vocals sound dirty af, but the overall mix of everything is quite clean, reminds me of mayhem (in a good way)... the songwriting is far from one-note (dare i say more varied than blasphemy and certainly more varied than most of the bands inspired by blasphemy), you get the dynamics between the slow doomy parts and the faster mayhem-y parts, you get some in-between parts that kinda remind of hellhammer/celtic frost, a liiiiittle bit of melody here and there (nocturnal evil, sadomatic rites) and yea the ambient too love it or hate it

Discounted, but an excellent deal. Archgoat rules.

Also pretty spot on album summary, park. Beherit rules.

Part of me wants to 5.0 this, while the other wants to keep it on 4.0. The dilemma!
