yeah my ex and i were obsessed with this album back in the day. it's one of those records i would put on early in the morning when i was like stupidly happy in love and every day seemed like perfection. and then after our relationship the context changed quite a bit and i'd put it on to reminisce, which made me kind of miserable. funny how my life events affect how i perceive albums lol. now this is like a happy-sad album for me. if i didn't have that connection to it and i heard it for the first time today i'm not sure if i'd love it as much.

YOU MAY TIRE OF ME AS OUR DECEMBER SUN IS SETTING, CAUSE I'M NOT WHO I USED TO BE

it's especially funny how much more songs like 'someday you'll be loved' resonate now as a result of the events of the past.

Love this album but it's far from their best, in fact this is probably their most overrated. Although "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" is a classic song.

I adore this record. It was my first major exposure to Death Cab, I was a Freshman/Sophomore in HS when this dropped and it's very sentimental to me. Kinda funny, I just started seeing a new girl who lives in Midtown and just by gut instinct I put this on while driving to meet up with her.

Yeah I know a lot of people have a strong emotional connection to this one but imp Transatlanticism is much more powerful and masterfully sequenced, The Photo Album is better written, and Narrow Stairs is more interesting. But to each his own, this is still a great indie pop record.

What Sarah Said might be their best song ever though.

Marching Bands of Manhattan is a great opener (not as good as New Year), What Sarah Said, Follow You Into the Dark is beautiful and Soul Meets Body is mid 00's staple radio rock track.

@Ocean: That honor probably goes to Title and Registration for me. Or maybe Styrofoam Plates.
