Well I finally got this. It's definitely disappointing, but still enjoyable nontheless. I only really like a few songs, and was expecting some sort of epic with Exogenesis. Loved Pt. 3, Pt. 2 would be better if he didn't rehash the same piano lines he used in Butterflies and Hurricanes. I was really expecting a lot more out of it. Pt. 1 is just a waste of my time.

i know, solid standard indeed. i still like uprising. that is a good song. just the rest of the album falls flat. its like the music is doing all kinds of tricks but theyre all a bit boring. dunno if i make sense

At first, I thought the same; Muse've tried too hard this time. They know what the people like and they've sold themselves out to them like "a devastating slut".

So I spent the next 2 days after buying the album feeling rather disappointed. But a week on, I'm starting to think twice. Mainly, perhaps, cause of the song "Guiding Light". Seemed like a throwaway track at first but, thinking twice, it's... so throwaway...that it's pulled me into respecting the audacity of Muse to create something so simple. As if they were thinking "screw it, it sounds good, lets leave it at that". With that possible mindset, i'm beginning to question whether Muse are sellouts or not.

Or I'm just talking shit, speaking out of misplaced faith

I also think USOE is one of only a few songs here that are good.
