God, I teared up listening to breaking the habit. That song is just unbearable now.
"I'll never fight again. And this is how it ends" - Fuck me.

Breakng The Habit is their best song and it's on here.

Breakin is their thrid best song, a place for my head and a line in the sand are better but the previously mentioned track is a beast. It has a lot of cool depeche mode elements, the lyric is sick and chester's vocals were top notch on that track. Besides the video is one of the coolest things on earth

As someone who also has his own issues with depression, today hit me pretty hard. Been listening to Breaking The Habit all day since I heard of Chester's passing.
Though the song might not have been written by him, you can feel every word he sings is one from a deep and dark place. I still think it's the best thing LP ever wrote. Not to mention the video, probably my in my top 3 music videos of all time.

Breaking the Habit got me into music. Its my favorite song of theirs and its one of my favorite pieces of art in general. The depeche mode influences are great. It builds phenomenally and has some of the most haunting melodies and lyrics. And thats not even to touch on how fucking perfect the music video is. I highly suggest you all watch the making of that video on youtube and see the band be silly and see joe hahn work with the artists and go to japan to talk to the studio. Its one of the most beautiful works of animation iv ever seen. Ill always be obsessed with everything Breaking the Habit.

Its the first time somethin like this has happened to me. I always just thought to myself, "I dont listen to old artists really so I'll be fine", but with this, it just scares me and makes me realize anyone can just be gone and not be there the next morning

Lane Staley really bummed me out, and the fucking tragedy of Dimebag was....well that will probably go unmatched honestly....but losing someone puts a lot in perspective in a fucking instant. I wouldn't be sitting here pondering how special it was to buy Hybrid Theory a couple days after I saw the music video for "One Step Closer" debut at like 2AM on muchmusic or fuse or whichever one it was. Nobody had any clue about them...I always kinda felt a little triumphant that I knew a few months in advance what a big deal they were. Seeing them break out with Crawling and play that first MTV awards was thrilling for me, because even as soft as they seem now (and were, depending how deep down the metal hole you were), they were pretty fucking edgy and played really heavy riffs for the MTV crowd.

The riffs and the lyrics were their greatest flaws.

This album and Hybrid Theory is throwback/nostalgia jams for sure but I don't really care about this band anymore. Still, my middle school self would be in tears hearing the news.

I was too young when this came out to remember it, and considering I didn't want anything to do with metal til my teenage years I didn't get into these guys until I was 15 lol.

"Nobody's Listening is one of the sickest tunes ever, what an absolute bop" SO TRUE!
Still love the first two LP LPs dearly (that one was for you Occy!).
