The full songs released so far aren't that good but Amazon has previews of all the tracks and there are several that sound very promising.

I flat out do not like the clean vocals on the new album, plus the songs released seem like they are all fast-paced and less intricate. I like their more doomy songs exponentially better. Also, the riffs seem pretty boring, there were no hooks like the ones on "Against The Stream" or "Down With The Sun".
I'm hoping the full album has some slower tracks. It should be streaming in about 20 minutes.

If I remember correctly, the clean vocals are only on two songs (maybe three) and they're hardly used except on one track. The songs, IMO, are actually more intricate but they're more dense and layered. The melodies, especially, benefitted. There are some faster tracks, but diversity is good.
I would never say they sound like Metallica.
