As a foreigner, I absolutely abhor radical democrats as much as their republican counterparts; I disagree with moderate republicans on everything, first and foremost the abortion ban; I also disagree with Democrats about the extreme liberalisation of the US economy, which has left so many people in such financial dire straits, that they believe populists like Trump are the solution.

What the Tenacious D guy said is as reprehensible as everything Trump and his cohort have said or did to polarise US politics all these years.

easy to smell your own farts and call it reprehensible when it's not your social, civil, environmental, and health infrastructure he's going to defund

^ well said Voivod

for what it's worth, even Trump wants to soften the GOP's stance on abortion and gay marriage; probably bc he and his team saw how massively Republicans under-performed after the '22 midterms (bc of Roe), but still a tiny, whimpering glimmer of promise that the GOP will cave to significant enough pressure

as for Dems, they're fucked and they deserve it; cheated a progressive (Bernie) out of the nomination, allowed a demagogue like Trump to become viable, had COVID bail them out in '20 and are now stuck in a no-win scenario: go down the tubes with a reanimated corpse (Biden) or admit he's too frail and replace him at the 11th hour and 59th minute

either way, the Dems are crumbling and I'm here for it

No, some second rate celebrity is absolutely not held to the same standard of behavior as the fucking president that's absurd.
Trump and his ilk have materially worsened the lives of millions through their actions and words and wield influence Kyle could never even dream of having. These things aren't even comparable

As much as Trump polarized the country the media did way more damage than he did. No one trusts the media anymore. This is a huge problem and I don't know how it gets reversed. They turned politics into reckless team sports because of a game show host that was a liberal his whole life. We live in an unhinged timeline

Absolutely Art.

It’s a worldwide problem, the media in losing all impartiality has completely fucked it.

PizzaBear: at scale, maybe. But the caliber of what Gass said is still as bad morally as anything Trump's ever said

^^What kind of health infrastructure are you talking about budgie?

The one where ten out of ten need to start a gofundme campaign, in order to cover their medical expenses, even for routine treatments like breaking an arm/leg?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that the US norm, irrespective of what party is in power.

Break your arm or leg in the EU/Scandinavian peninsula, and you won't get bankrupt, you even might not pay a single dime.

Reminder that right at the outset of the pandemic, Biden said he'd veto M4A if it reached his desk

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/10/biden-says-he-wouldd-veto-medicare-for-all-as-coronavirus-focuses-attention-on-health.html

effectively signing the death warrants of every American who *is* going to *die* from lack of coverage

But libs are like "that's my guy. what a decent man"

i'd gladly pay more in taxes if being fully covered meant I 1.) am net saving $$ and 2.) and this is the big one: don't have to worry about going bankrupt or dying bc of medical bills which *does* *not* *happen* *in* *other* *countries*

The things that make the US shite is guns, no history and the complete lack of self awareness.
