I literally have no idea how Chan can go from writing such good reviews to such bad ones, like this.

Uhh yeah I'm a moron, way to take criticism well.
First things first...the first paragraph is totally irrelevant to the album. It's just ramble about your personal views on giving albums a 5 rating - I'm trying to find about the album, I don't care what you think about what makes a 5 rating or not, 'cos (as you've gave this a 5) I'll find that out in the review, or whatever. And no it's not made relevant by the first sentence of the second paragraph.
Loads of language and terms used are unprofessional; 'the shit' should never be used in a review, 'annoys your friends' should be 'people find him annoying', etc. The ironic thing with this is there's great parts such as 'a vocal performance this nuanced and intricate should be passed over by so many'. The whole review should be written like that.
The overall tone is just stupid and ridiculous. 'You're free now', 'Maybe. I should look that up', 'Spontaneous sounds better, yeah'...dude, shut the f*ck up, tell me about the album. Stop telling me all this personal stuff I have no interest in at all ('If you're embarrassed, shut your door'...maybe you were embarassed when listening...I really don't care, it's not necessary to the review). It's almost pretentious.
I could say more but I can't be bothered. The review is just fanboy drivel. It's fine to write a fanboy review, but at least do it well (like with your Devil and God... one), like you've done before. This review is just irrtating.

But I'd like to take a fanboy review seriously like I did with The Devil and God..., this review is just a failure, even if it's not supposed to be taken seriously (which probably makes it a failure...I digress).

I listened to this album for the first time today. I immediately listened to it three more times. I haven't played anything else all day.

I got the "Live From Orensanz" album and after hearing "Cute without the E" again for the first time in a long time, I re-listened through this album like 3 times. It really is pretty good.
(Nice Dig btw haha)

I never listened to them back in their day, probably as a result of being a total blink fanboy at the time, but this is fucking good. I may look into the rest of their discog but probably not.

I got the LIVE CD, Tell All Your Friends, and Where You Want to Be

I'll keep that in mind. I might have to do it out of desperation for more than 33 minutes of their music though...

I mean, other albums have good songs, but it is so hit and miss it isn't funny. TAYF is the only consistent one.

Idk, maybe not the whole album, but songs like "One-Eighty Summer" and "A Decade Under the Influence" off of Where You Want to Be are REALLY good.

I think Where You Want To Be is only slightly worse than this one. It's definitely worth at least a listen.

I've heard this and thought it was pretty meh. I'm pretty surprised to see how strong it's held up on this site. I should probably give it a second try.
