I didn't like hip-hop at all until very recently so forgive my transgressions (and let a G be)

All great albums but none of them touch Funcrusher Plus or Cold Vein. Thsoe are El's high points of beat making and lyricism.

yeah but he didn't rap on cold vein. also his lyricism gets a million times better on fandam from coflow

see I really like Funcrusher but have become comfortable in my opinions, enough to say that I generally don't vibe with the "classic" hip-hop as much as this progressive new stuff (like Run the Jewels). I respect the fuck out of of those records, and defintiely appreciate what they did for a genre that I now love, but a lot of the production sounds same-y and not very innovative when compared to newer stuff. Obviously most of that is due to me hearing hip-hop for the last ten years, after Funcrusher Plus (etc.) forever changed it, but yeah, I personally prefer the new stuff over the "classics" nine times out of ten. But I don't even flirt with denying that the classics are, indeed, classics (they just aren't for me, ya dig?)
Like, Funcrusher Plus is a 4 for me and this is a 4.5 because El raps the fuck out of life on this record. I much prefer the production on C4C/RAP/RTJ.

the last few minutes of TOJ are beautiful
i love this one most because of how personal it is, its like a window into El's life and mind

his production really progresses over time. @aids you just have to listen to the right kind of classic rap to dig on it. check out three 6 mafia, production is like 15 years ahead of its time

hey fourthreich don't ugh me, I'm just expressing my opinion. and I did it with enough respect for your sorta jam so don't be that guy.
sobhi yeah I know what you mean. a lot of it I like over time but more often than not it doesn't really grab me cause I'm used to shiny, new hip-hop. the times are a changin though. reaaaaally diggin sum souls of mischief lately.
