This is closer to Bullet For My Valentine and Slipknot than Hatebreed, imo. These are way more Thrash influenced. It's Thrashcore, if you will.

album was not horrible. i feel like Heafy's scream on Ascendancy was better although I don't horribly dislike the vocals. I think his lyricism has always needed work cuz it's so cliche. and imo The Crusade was cheesy bullshit and was extremely mediocre. but the instrumentation is pretty good on this album

I didn't mind it before, but Heafy sounds terrible on Ascendancy when I listen to it now. It just sounds too immature.

i know. this was one of the first metal bands i liked and now i can't really bring myself to listen to them. yeah his screams were sort of immature on Ascendancy and on their first LP but I personally like the guitar work a lot on those albums... I also think the biggest problem with his screams are the fact that they are too throaty and you can here his normal voice sort of coming through, if that makes any sense.

You're right; Trivium music has always been pretty damn good, with the lowest being at Crusade. But then I am still trying to figure out what music I like more, this or Ascendancy.

I will never understand these supposed metallica similarities.

I would go with ascendancy cuz it's catchy but this album has some sweet riffs and it's a lil bit different style of playing

"I will never understand these supposed metallica similarities."

i think it's because he does that raspy singing thing like James Hetfield
