This album is definitely underrated and time's been a lot kinder to it. Yeah, it felt kind of generic and uninspired when it first came out, and the lyrics are mostly crap, but to me this and A Rush of Blood to the Head encapsulates the classic Coldplay sound. The songwriting on it isn't as good as the latter, but it's still consistently above-average.
