Love this cd... Mikael Akerfeldt has amazing vocals whether it's his growls or his clean. I saw Opeth in concert and it was like a dream, definitely a kickass time.

Ya Agalloch is good, they are more Folk influcenced tho, but good stuff, there last cd was really really good. "Bleak" and "The Leper Affinity" are tracks Im really into right now...I think Blackwater Park is going to take over for best Opeth album...but I still really like Still Life...ugh

I absolutely adore this album. At first I was having a hard time with it, but it eventually grew on me, and strengthened my musical diversity. Thank you, Opeth.
My favorite tracks are The Leper Affinity, Harvest, and The Funeral Portrait.

Honestly, I can say Dirge For November isn't as bad as many people claim to be.

What would everyone else recomend I get next? Difficult to say since I believe all their albums are good. Its not my personal fave but Still Life is probably the majority's next favourite album after BP. If youre looking for heavy, go with Deliverance, for light stuff Damnation. Their first three albums are fantastic but have muddy production, plus Orchid is kind of undeveloped and Morningrise has very long songs. Of the first 3 therefore I would reccommend My Arms Your Hearse. If youre looking for something crisper sounding go with Ghost Reveries (which I love but some people see as more radio friendly/dull).

Still Life or Morningrise, but any Opeth album is worthy of purchase. These guys have risen FAST in my musical hierarchy.

I'd say Still Life, it's my favorite of their cds. BP is a very very close second though, Still Life just donesn't have any boring songs, this CD has Dirge for november which isn't as good as the other songs. Dirge isn't bad at all though, it just doesnt stand out with all of the other masterpieces.

I agree. Still Life should be your next purchase.

Actually, I believe Dirge For November is an incredible song. It was the first song I got into on the album, and imo beats out some songs on here. I love the slow opening and the heavier midsection.

I just never liked it as much. It's still an amazing (no lie) song. It just doesn't stand out with the other songs. If it were on MAYH, I'd probably like it more cause the songs there aren't quite as strong.
I think i may review this album next.

Yeah, I was going to say that if it were in a different album it would definately be a highlight.
I think i may need to actually stop being lazy and review something at least.

I find it weird that everyone says Dirge For November is a weaker song, I thought it was one of the stronger ones.

I'm pretty sure it's Steven Wilson from PT singing on "Bleak." What do you guys think. I dont have liner notes, so I couldnt check them.
Great album though...

Yup, its a widely known fact Mikhael and Wilson do a vocal exchange during the "Tedious movements in your eyes etc" bit of Bleak.
