every time metalcore bands re-record their albums they make the drums absurdly loud and reverby

also just peeped re-recorded version of the crimson and while its not shitty I would never take it over the original. sounds very pristine like a periphery album or some shit which I hate. also weird and revisionist to do this kind of thing with without Alex Varkatzas. pretty sure he wrote the lyrics too

I get he's been out for a while and Brandon has been handling frontman duties but idk seems kind of unnecessary to do.

The production on the original Crimson album was notoriously awful, and I much prefer the re-recording. I do wish Alex had still been around for it though.

I mean I understand why people wouldn't like the OG production on The Curse but most of the metal and hardcore I listen to and enjoy doesn't have big grandiose production save for a few exceptions, so the re-record doesn't do anything for me. more into the raw sounding stuff. just a preference thing honestly but I think a lot of modern production techniques with heavier music end up neutering the band. (e.g. the new knocked loose album, spiritbox, all the djent stuff, that kind of shit).
