For some reason the appalling production/mixing/mastering is what prevents me from outright hating this. The unlistenability just makes it listenable, dyou know what I mean?

nah. i like the madness of the production but the quality of noel’s 2016 “d’you know what i mean” remix is just unbelievable; i think if the whole album was produced like that, it would’ve fared much better with everyone.

Not really man.

The production is jarring and the album just feels like a rush job.

Still love WTS? and DM but even when I was growing up as a kid, listening to this was never enjoyable.

Plebster I was the opposite.
DM and WTS were great but I wouldn’t say I was a massive fan. When this came out I saw the band as an unfuckable force of nature and loved it.
One thing I’ve always admired about the band though was the b-sides. Absolutely classic stuff.

Yep, along with.
Fade Away
Headshrinker
Talk Tonight
Stay Young
Half the World Away
Acquiesce
Round Our Way
Step Out
Flashbax
Cloudburst
D’yer wanna be a spaceman

Among others.
The band is second to none when it comes to the b-sides and as Noel said “it’s a b-side cos I wrote it as a fucking b-side”

just listened to the rethink again. seriously ppl open the original (or the remaster even) and the rethink up at the same time and click back n forth between them. fucking hell it's like night and day. imagine if the production was done properly on this thing, throw stay young and going nowhere in there, we'd be living in a different world rn. and if they'd kept back a few choice b-sides from '94 and '95 for the third album, we'd be living in a very different world.

fuck i wanna be there so bad

Going Nowhere wouldn't make a lot of sense on this album but The Fame instead of Magic Pie is a good substitution

I dunno I quite like it but my god is it overblown. Probably the worst offender here for being too long, and there's plenty of examples on this.

i like magic pie as well but it and fade in/out are the weak links for sure. just feels like they coulda done better with tracks like stay young lyin around

after listening to rethink again i am feelin like some of the songs coulda been shorter but all around the world is fuckin perfect as is yo
