funnily enough, I jammed seven swans for the first time today tommy. hope you enjoy this!

I don't listen to this much, and I can't really explain why. It's beautiful, and I love it every time I do sit down and really listen to it. I have a similar problems with a lot of immense magnum opus type albums.

I'm the same way, but this isn't an album that I feel I need to listen to often y'know? I feel like it would lose some of its magic after too many repeated listens.

yeah, and i don't think that's a knock against the album. There are plenty of movies I feel the same way about. I watch Life is Beautiful once a year, let it destroy me, take the rest of the year to put myself back together and then do it again, for example.

Listened to Seven Swans yesterday, I guess it goes without saying that I dug it hard (it is Sufjan after all). It definitely looks like it will be a mood album though, and like this I can't see myself jamming on the regular.

He is embarking on a hip hop project with a couple of other white boys, not sure what it was called but the song I heard was pretty sweet

Life is Beautiful is sort of a two part movie, half love story, half concentration camp survival story. To me it's easily the best holocaust movie ever made, because the characterization is so goddam strong and the first half of the movie serves as contrast to the tragic second act. It's fucking beautiful and it will tear your soul into pieces.

Wait so the autotune was a precursor? Ha

dude that's fucked up, I would not want other tenth graders to see me openly weeping. I cry during the first half too, now that I've seen it a few times. It's just. ugh. It's been almost a year so I'm gonna watch it again soon.

Holy shit that sounds bleak as hell, I can tell I'm going to love it. Hopefully I'll get time to watch it over the weekend. Have any of you guys read The Book Thief at all? The film adaption is out now (which I haven't seen yet), but the book is stunning.

It's on netflix, just fyi
I haven't read the book thief, but it's on my list. I've heard really good things about it.
|

that is nice. I remember watching some holocaust movie in middle school and people screaming out the halo killstreaks (overkill, killtacular, etc.), so yeah, good on your classmates.

At first I was like Oh my god this is amazing, so much Like Neutral Milk Hotel awesome!... 13 songs later I was like oh my god when is this going to end so I'm not sure what to rate it. Somewhere in between a 3 and a 4 probably.
