it's because they are way more raw and unfiltered. they are probably technically more efficient in their later stuff but the vocals here have way more character and sound closer to what you'd hear at a live show.

highs are quite similar there imo but the lows are more refined.

Tbf maybe they'll sound better to me on a re attempt but I just have not been in a deathcore mood ig

totally fair, just describing why i think they resonate with a lot of people. i miss raw and dirty deathcore recorded in a basement.

I will admit tho Deathcore was always a bit of a tougher nut to crack in my experience. The straying away from the melodic bits that I love in MxC leaving nothing but the heavy bits, it has its place but it's often exhausting bc a lot of dxc albums blended together for me.

yeah like i bet you don't really dig the cleansing, somatic defilement either then

Strangely enough, The Cleansing is actually a huge exception to the rule! It gets a bit sensory overload at points but there's some iconic stuff there (unanswered, no pity for a coward)
Somatic Defilement is a bit more neutral, I enjoy it but it's also far from the first Chapel I pick up (most recent 3 and a new era are my go tos)
