Kim is hardly a song, while emotionally relevant, its still not something you can bob your head to. Thats the kind of song that you can't enjoy unless your focus is entirely on the lyrics; its more of a poetic nod to domestic abuse as opposed to an actual rap.

...so like do you never know what the fuck you're talking about?

The screaming, the conversational lyrics and Em singing ruin the songs flow for me. I always thought of Kim as a wake up call instead of something to artistically cum all over, its more about the message instead of how Em crafted it in the studio...the beat is extremely forgettable, too.

dunno bout that... I consistently listen to kim just to sing the lyrics and get mad... kind of like a metal song for me actually.
When he goes BLEED BITCH BLEED! I almost headbang, but then I catch myself and realize this is hip-hop, not metal, then I turn on some bloodbath and let loose.

It may be the fact that to me Em's lyrics are elementary, and while he has a sick flow most of the time his wording is always basic and overrated. Lots of people just label him as an amazing lyricist and don't realize that without the presence of intense themes, his rhymes would be ever so generic. A great lyricist/poet not only makes you think about things, but they also make you figure out what it is your trying to think about; poetry has layers.

Kim just doesn't do anything for me, it's more of a poem/story than actual hip hop track. I like Em when he's rapping cause his flow is amazing, that's mostly why I dig him.

I think the lack of beat/flow on Kim sets it apart from the rest of the album.
I can understand the points about it not being a rap/hip-hop track, but maybe it isn't supposed to be one...This Message Edited On 01.25.09

I get what you mean St4ytrue... although Eminem definitely isn't the kind of rapper who wants to make you figure out what he wants people to know. He's very up-front with it. I see how that can be seen as a flaw to his music.

So his lyrics are flawed because they aren't cryptic or take time to think about and work out?
Ok then...
|
| |
No, thats not a flaw. It just means there are obviously better lyricists out there, and thats why I think hes overrated. And good lyrics don't have to be 'cryptic', that word is better suited for the encoding of things for security reasons instead of artistic reasons.
i would like kim more if i could bob my head to it
well, it's obvious that you just don't get it. if your looking for stuff you can "bob your head to," go and grab some 50 cent and lifehouse and leave us alone. honestly, are you that dumb?
|
| |
You misquoted me, I wasn't saying that was why I didn't like the song, I was saying thats why I don't consider it as much as a melodic endeavor as his other tracks.
