Souvenirs was tops, by the way.
And yeah, kind of agree with the Mandy slander, but it has a hell of a lot of charm regardless. Iām sure someone around here (š) persuaded me to make it my 2nd peek into The Gathering, and thus this may have contributed to it standing reasonably firm (despite a few others having since overtaken it).

Our rankings differ quite substantially but we are united in our The Gathering love.

Just shows how special they are.
One thing is sure, they always put extra effort in each and every album they release by searching for new sounds and sonic landscapes, while at the same time trying to evolve as musicians themselves. What strikes me the most is how they tread that fine line between catchiness and experimentation so beautifully.

Suuuuper true Dreamflight! They always try for some nice new ideas. And even more true is that catchiness bit, Home is quite the example of that. Oh how lovely they are.
And YIPPPEEEEEE DEWI PLANET!!!

Good one art! Sleepy Buildings is super mega good. So interesting to hear those gems in acoustic setting, and Anneke of course shines, like always.
Also a very relatable ranking Demon.
Also also all of their albums are magical Storm.

Yeah Sleepy Buildings is awesome.
I like some of its versions more than the originals ie red is a slow colour, like fountains and the mirror waters.

This is a masterpiece and possibly my favorite TG album. Can't get enough of it, it's excellent all the way through, even if we consider the reissue with the bonus tracks. Man, were they on top of their game back then. My highlights are On Most Surfaces, New Moon Different Day, Third Chance (both versions are awesome). But what really hooked me was the the Kevin's Telescope > Nighttime Birds duo. I'm addicted to it.
