Burst's Prey On Life was post-metallish, but Lazarus Bird not so much. Ganon's kind of ehh. And as someone said here once, "Neurosis transcends post-metal".

Neurosis doesn't transcend so much as define post metal

Lazarus Bird is a definite post metal album. I have no idea what else I'd call it. Maybe Prog Metal but then you could argue that Post metal itself is prog metal

fucking genres piss me off

For the answer to the genre of Neurosis I believe the Wizard must be consulted, but I cbf asking him because I'm busy jacking it.

Wizard isn't the only one with post-metal knowledge.

Yeah but he's a Wizard. And Neurosis is like the band for him.

The stretch from Carry->Weight is definitely the best thing I've ever heard from Isis.

panopticon is really good too but i think it might be a little more mechanical than this; i really think the female vocals in the three tracks on here (the opener, carry and weight) add this kind of distant love-lost thing that bolsters it. that probably doesnt make much sense but i'm going to review this and expand on it!

i also like the ambient sections (particularly from carry to the beginning of weight) on here

Well, the album's concept is a really fucked up love-lost thing.

Maybe you should try listening to more post-metal.
