Music doesn't have to be entirely original to sound good to certain people.
This is true

Yes, this album is generic metalcore. But it's good generic metalcore.
But it's not...
|
| |
Good generic metalcore doesn't exist, then again with the exception of Converge I don't think good metalcore exists.

Converge sucks. Generic metalcore can be good, Diecast rules, Burn In Silence rules, Evergreen Terrace rules. Metalcore rules. Just kidding that Converge sucks but the fact they "supposedly" define the whole metalcore scene angers me deeply.
|
| |
My personal opinion, but I don't think Converge define metalcore as I personally believe them to be the only worthwhile band in the genre.

A gay opinion to have tbh. There are plenty of worthwile bands in the metalcore sub-genre, you're missing out.

Good generic metalcore doesn't exist
It's amazing that you've had the time and money to sit down and listen to the complete material of every metalcore band ever recorded from start to finish

I didn't like these guys at first, but they have been growing on me the past few days. Bough the re-issue, and it's pretty tight. This Song Is Called is amazing.

They aren't that bad. I like a few songs on the album, though it gets a bit repetative.
I really like the clean vocals though, and don't think they sound whiny at all, just high pitched, though not terribly high pitched like Mika.

alright i need someone to explain this to me
So I did the typical iTunes bullshit route and just got 'HTML Rulez Dood', which, despite the at-times laughable screams, has an interesting structure and a rather melodious bridge. as a casual -core listener [the only artists in the genre i really listen to are underoath and genghis tron], why is this album so bad?

just to clarify, HTML Rulez Dood is like, the only song off the album I actually kind of enjoy.
It's got a fun, catchy sound to it and never goes overboard with all the metalcore cliches, like all their other songs do.

I'd have to say the person that reviewed this is biased in the first place, which really it isn't fair to the genre or band seeing that he clearly seems to dislike this band. On another note it's hard to listen to someone who is trying to criticize a song title when they don't even know the proper name of it...It's Don't Dink and Drance, it only takes someone with marginal intelligence to figure out they took the DR from the word drink and the D from the word dance and reversed them like a drunk person might, which would actually read Don't Drink and Dance. But seeing that it's your opinion I guess your're entitled to it, and I'm entitled to mine...if you're gonna try to write a "professional" review please know what you're talking about.

i disagree also, i think Mike' voice stands out alot and makes them a unique band in the genre. The singing isnt annoying IMO but i guess it comes across diiferently to other people.

mikes voice is diferent and it does set him apart of the rest of generic metalcore, but they still have long ways to go before they can acomplish something unique (if they ever do)

i think they already have but we will see how the new album is. It won't be much different than Plagues though so if you didn't like this don't bother. Besides being metalcore, i don't see and bands who really sound similar to them

They still don't sound like this band or album

I think the album is great. It has to grow on you.
But i will admit the clean vocals are a bit like "chiodos" which is a band i cant stand. I do like the use of the keys
