agreed. i think it would be awesome if they put out an album of like four or five 10+ minute jam-type tracks like that, superchrist on tour last year slayed and that's a very meh song when you break it down. it's all about energy and chemistry, which have been sorely lacking from SP's music for a long while

Billy has said in interviews that he considers Shiny Pt.1 to be a throwaway record that was basically written in studio as a "let's see if we still got it" record. The next album is going to be closer to a classic Pumpkins album from what Corgan has said

Didn't he say something similar about Zeitgeist too, though? Sounds like he's making excuses imo

https://youtu.be/IfZ30vtL_S4 they just wanted to make a no-frills rock record. Zeitgeist succeeds on that front imo, some of the lyrics are awful but musically I have no issues with this record other than the production / mixing. The records quality improves quite a bit if you add all the b-sides in too, here's my version's tracklisting:
1. Doomsday Clock
2. 7 Shades Of Black
3. Bleeding The Orchid
4. That's The Way (My Love Is)
5. Tarantula
6. Starz
7. United States
8. Death From Above
9. Bring The Light
10. (Come On) Let's Go!
11. Neverlost
12. Stellar
13. Ma Belle
14. For God And Country
15. Pomp & Circumstances
16. Zeitgeist
17. G.L.O.W.
18. Superchrist
19. FOL
20. Daydream (Live)

^ looks pretty nice, tho for my own personal listening experience i'd probably nix 17-19

adding the title track to the end of the silver edition is Zeitgeist canon imo. after all the garbage with scattering bonus tracks the fact that they didnt even put them all on the supposed “definitive” version is obscene

to be fair that was the only ZG b-side missing, very weird they left it off since it works amazingly as a closer

yeah it really should close the album. the cynic (smashing pumpkins fan) in me thinks Corgan left it off because he knew that some diehards/completionists would STILL go out and buy that one edition because it had the one song that Silver didn't have.

I leave 17-19 in just cuz they're from the same recording sessions (and Superchrist should've been on the record imo) although FOL might have been post-Zeitgeist
