I'm sure I'm probably alone with feeling this, but Deicide have always felt the most generic and lacklustre of any of the "classic" death metal bands. Their first two albums were definitely great, but the vocals always feel too monotonous and uninspired, and the riffing here particularly feels just a little too by-the-book. The album's still a good listen, and Legion and the self-titled are ones that I would reach for to listen to occasionally, but Deicide probably got stale the quickest of any band of the time

I totally get what it is about this that people like, it's that simplicity and just outright rage and blasphemy atop some super simple but catchy riffs with the chaotic blasts, but my personal tastes stray away from that. I wasn't around at the time Deicide were coming out, so I guess i'm conditioned to expect more.
