pre-hardcore, pre-nu metal, argument could be made for either.

I'd like to hear the argument for pre-hardcore

kill, i wouldnt call myself "cool", more "brutally honest about my opinions". i dont care much for the sputnik wannabe teenage drama show so i have no reason to try and play a role like most people do. my comments simply reflect my thoughts, if people have a problem with them that's great.

inveigh, have you heard the album?

"hardcoar" bands (obviously referring to the modern definition, 80s hardcore punk doesn't suck) pretty much try to copy phil and co's attitude displayed here except instead of actually being badass it's just lame and pathetic. that's the argument. to deny the influence this album had on hardcoar is just silly. it's ironic because this album, carcass' heartwork and death's sound of perseverance are all great records but look at metalcoar, pretty much a combination of all 3 of those album's styles, without any of the good parts, and with tons of whiny cheese.

then you should've said metalcore

because I don't see how this had any influence on bands like Ignite, Defeater, Verse, Bane, The Carrier, Ceremony, Dangers etc.

and I'm assuming you're referring to metalcore bands in the vein of Killswitch Engage, August Burns Red, All That Remains, etc?

because I don't think Dillinger, Converge, Botch or Poison the Well took any real influence from Pantera either.

And I struggle to really see a LOT of Pantara in any of those other bands. I see it more in Lamb of God, Throwdown, Hatebreed etc.

but, your explanation wasn't as asinine as I was expecting, I will say that.

teddy you took my statement completely out of context. metalcoar bands are clearly very influenced by those 3 albums. the point you missed was, while said bands attempt to copy the styles of those albums, they fail and end up with an extremely pathetic attempt at music. the vocals are what really makes it cringe-inducing, though. out of the above mentioned pantera, carcass, and death, pantera (phil) clearly had the most vocal influence, that's undeniable. except where phil's vocals are original and great, metalcoar vocals are pathetic and all sound the same. then you have the whiny emo element which came from god knows where, combined with the absolutely god horrid image of the whole "scene" and boom, you have america's downfall in a nutshell.

@Shoe Ugh, stop making generalizations about metalcore and hardcore. Also, stop spelling them with "-oar" it's fucking annoying.
