gridlink is bar none the most tightly crafted grindcore i've heard. i'd go so far as to say Longhena even surpasses The Inalienable Dreamless.

This album was recorded on an 8 track in the drummers basement. This album sounds like it was recorded on an 8 track in the drummers basement.

Do you guys listen to the original, or remaster? The original is kind of sucky.

It sounds like it should be heavy & pack an almighty punch yet the production holds it back. It's very inconsistent as well, like the volume has been tinkered with unnecessarily, some of it just fades into the background.

Gotta agree. This album is gritty in all of the right ways.

What's the consensus on the production? The whole muffled/occasionally loud dynamic, is this intentional in any way or just a shoddy, low-budget production job? Does it add to the atmosphere for you, or is it such a great album the quality shines through DESPITE the production?

If you listen to the remaster instead I'd like to hear some opinions on that as well.

I thought the remaster was going to be the definitive version for me but I still find myself always listening to the original.

Remasters often tend to disappoint.

Even when remasters don't disappoint, like here, you just get so used to hearing an album a certain way for years on end that it's hard to fully accept the remaster.

Agreed, it is the best thing about the remaster. Just a shame it lacks Evacuating Heaven.
