If Labrie was on the debut it might actually be pretty decent

FII is actually pretty good. It's better than most of their recent material.

FII has some cool songs but so many forgettable and lame songs as well

I enjoy most of the songs on that album tbh.

i have never got the hype around Trial of Tears tbh, New Millennium and Peruvian Skies are sweet

FII is better than ADTOE, BCSL, SC, and almost equal to Octavarium imo. It's quite enjoyable and underrated. It didn't seem like the band was contemplating every time signature during the songs and teh band let loose, even if it was in a commercial direction, it's much better than modern tired DT

Dude that song grooves so hard, esp Myung. Plus the solo sections are so good. There's a lot of

quality on FII. JT knows, sup Jamie

I almost agree except I'm quite fond of BCSL and I think FII is better than Octavarium.

Octavarium succeeded in doing softer songs way better than FII imo even though it wasn't the purest DT, they tried to do convenient rock songs on FII but failed miserably to make them anything enjoyable, for example the awful "You Not Me"

On the contrary I think every song on FII has enjoyable bits. After 6DOIT the band started taking the music way too seriously, it worked on TOT but the quality of music has been declining ever since. FII is really enjoyable, I can still listen to that album completely without having to skip a lot. Plus I think Derek's contributions were really good. He used an actual Hammond for the recordings, I'm sold.

I agree. I hate all the pointless wank shit with the new DT

@Artuma: I find most of Octavarium pretty boring (title track rules though) whereas I find FII consistently enjoyable. You Not Me is pretty bad though, I agree with you there.

If the rest of Octavarium was like the title track, I think it would've been a masterpiece

hardly disagree, i am one of the few who actually think Octavarium was superb. i have never liked TOT so much since it sounds too much just Metallica with wankery and a keyboard player imo

FII is so forgettable. Octavarium has some sweet jams but it's ok overall.

Haha, dammit Artuma thought I had you there

You Not Me is too long but it has enjoyable riffs and a good dark atmosphere. I actually think Octavarium is pretty good, it's a high 3.5, the weaker songs on it are "The Answer Lies Within", "I Walk Beside You", "Never Enough" and I used to love "these Walls" but it hasn't tickled my fancy of late like it used to.
