was kind of hoping chris broderick might infuse this band with some of their old ideas given what he did with megadeth on endgame (and that he's talented as hell) but that's probably a pipe dream given that super collider and thirteen sucked ass

In flames is a business model now. Nobody is altering their course. Someone like Chris Broderick is just there to collect a big ol paycheck

holy fuck. Jesper Strömblad, Niclas Engelin, Peter Iwers, and Daniel Svensson have started a new band called The Halo Effect with Mikael Stanne on vocals. there's no way it won't rule.

Seriously, Dead Eternity and the title track have some of the lamest attempts at melody I've ever heard in metal. This would have been lame in '86, let alone '96.

all (popular) melodeath albums are as dirt to cas, and his unprompted presence here is likely a sign that he's bored of chatting with the same 2-3 people about tech thrash albums no-one else cares about, so let's put on our biggest bestest smiles and make his opinions feel somewhat valid for the duration of desperate daytrip #107 xo

From the foundational melodeath albums (this and Heartwork being examples), The Gallery is great and by far the best. Of course, it also helps that DT had a drummer and bassist that were actually awake during the recording of that album.

It's pathetic that you're still trying to continue this running joke that I exclusively like obscure metal albums as if it's actually true.
