Chali XCX should cover a Beatles song just to make everyone mad

only question is would beatles fans claim charli is "too low brow" to cover them like radiohead fans did to ptv when they did karma police

I'm a relatively big Beatles fan and...no
Honestly, The Beatles were the biggest band of all time at some point. That makes them not high art no matter how much some might pretend they are. They're demonstrably for everyone
They were, much like this, the music of the people

i mean didn't a ton of people lose it when beyonce put a pretty faithful "blackbird" cover on her latest album?
feel like charli doing a beatles cover with her signature autotune would cause an even worse meltdown hahaha

i want a full corrosive hyperpop cover of All You Need Is Love, cannot imagine it being anything other than fascinatingly awful

Honestly, Brat has more of a claim to "high art" conceptually than The Beatles since I've seen way more music nerds act like this album is 2024's big one then regular people do.
In the US, Charli needed a Billie Eilish featured bonus track to even crack the top 40. With her lead single "Von Dutch" not hitting the Hot 100 at all.
Even if we focus only on gay-targeted music: Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Ariana Grande, SZA, and Taylor Swift all made way bigger waves this year and hold a more clear representative of the face of current gay pop.
Charli's English tho, and did well in the UK, so there's that

And pointing out why The Beatles, as much as I love them and am unenthused by this, aren't above her
