Looks like we're going to be opening Staff apps early this year, RIP Gonzo
Don't think FI is controversial within Tool's discog in the way this is within A7X's, is more that Tool are a shite band running on fumes and their fanbase are a controversial level of pushover

kinda didn't notice this until just now but that psych sounding section in beautiful morning is really well done from a production standpoint. drums purely in the left channel, organ-y stuff on the right, sounds like how it'd be done in the 60s
then it explodes into the guitar solo... chefs kiss

also while easier is def my least fave song here, i think its essential to the album's flow. sorta picks up where beautiful morning leaves off but by the end the clean guitars and autotune have taken over and it transitions much more nicely into g than beautiful morning does

Easier is good, I just really don’t care for those synths or whatever they are during the solo. So annoying. The rest of the song is fine. I love the chorus.

""They will come back around. Metallica did. Avenged is too young to become a nostalgia act and live off its first few albums. Let them try new things. Once they are no longer fulfilled by it, they will look back introspectively and look at the earlier stuff much more fondly""
Lmao the worst thing about this comment is that most of their fans don't even give a shit about their first albums. Like at the show everyone was going nuts over the S/t to httk stuff. I doubt many could even name a song on STST

This is definitely a "Lets see where we're at 10 years down the line" kinda album.

yeah waking the fallen is also a lot lot less popular than the internet would have you believe too. its essentially a one song album to a big chunk of their fanbase, and solely because the band insists on pretty much closing every show they've ever played with unholy confessions
its been 20 years now but i'm sure they'll find it in their hearts to go back to metalcore someday

I would've loved to see them back when you could still count on bangers like Chapter 4 being on the setlist but what can you do.

Revisiting City of Evil in full for the first time in probably 10+ years, and ngl I don't feel that album is any less ridiculous than this one. Choral section in The Wicked End alone is more ridiculous than 80% of this

LotR intro to Strength of the World also omg this was so worthwhile

Had the pleasure of seeing them last night for the first time in sixteen years. It’s a real no frills performance compared to the last time.

obv they’re only gonna put good reactions on their ig story, but from what I’ve seen most of the crowd is really into the new album
was the crowd cool at your show? The last thing I want is to have spent $300 on two fucking tickets just to hear people bitch the whole time

I didn’t hear any complaining but people were more into the older songs for sure.
