I didn't really get into legit punk and the alt rock standards like Nirvana until like senior year of high school. It got to the point that like 50% of what I was listening to before felt like a lie.

All the workers at Costco were singing the lyrics to True Friends as they were working...heard the guy mopping the floors, singing, "true friends stab you in the front". Lady working in the bakery was singing the lyrics to True Friends, too.
