I don't blame him and by the time he got to Watershed, it was clear that he wanted to do something differently

Yeah heritage and pale communion are still great albums in their own right

I like Damnation the best but I still like some Still Life from time to time. I think he's a really good singer so I don't mind it.

I have gotten to the point where I'd rather listen to Heritage over everything from BwP up to GR. I've been burnt out on those records for ages.

Me too but mostly cause I've heard them so many times and I barely listen to any extreme metal anymore. Heritage and damnation are probably their most replayable, even if they're their worst

When heritage came out, I kind of thought his voice would be able to carry the music, regardless, but I'm having second thoughts now.

After I decided I liked BWP I stopped listening to it so I preserve its goodness. Nothing worse than reaching saturation point with any album

Yeah but this is still one of my all time favorites, probably up there with kid a, moon and Antarctica, songs for the deaf, and lateralus

I feel the exact same way.

He's a talented singer, but something about his voice just irks me when he does things like vibrato. Even then, I guess that's better than singing without trying to convey any sort of emotion whatsoever like on Damnation.

When he does it subtly, it's so beautiful, like in Isolation Years

Agreed. That track is so delicious.

The vocals on Eternal Rains is a good example I think, and might honestly be in my top ten Opeth

songs.

Probably in my top 20, the production of the layers is done very well too and brings out the quality in his voice

The end of Faith in Others where he harmonises with the orchestra is soooooo good.

Agreed. That's definitely the highlight of the album for me underneath Eternal Rains and Goblin. Cusp has grown on me too. The riffs during the chorus are really nice.

End of Faith in Others reminded me a bit of GYBE's Moya, just a bit thicker. The song itself kind of disappointed me

Its FAR better when you listen to the album front to back a few times man. Like I said, I left PC for a week and jammed nothing from it. Coming back to it today was a pleasant surprise, everything seemed more seamless than before.

I'm gonna wait a couple of months to listen to it again. Some parts are still sounding very stale and I'd rather not sit through them, like Voice
