This album is quite an accomplishment. They took stylistic influence from all parts of their discography. It seems like there was a concerted effort to write actual "songs" this time, as opposed to just stringing badass parts together.

This album is worth a 4.5, without a doubt. Seriously i lose my shit so hard every time Swarm starts chugging. I went to their concert in Stockholm last year and i was seriously afraid i would kill someone in a pure adrenaline rush when Swarm opened the gig.

Meshuggah really covers a pretty wide spectrum of opinions. Ive heard people say its the best thing theyv'e heard, as well as the worst. i think they're fucking amazing

Yeah, I realized that as well. Glad many people enjoy it, shame I don't.

It's certainly not their best one, but there's some pretty decent riffs on this one, particularly in the second half of the album. I do sometimes wish that Jens would learn to... make any other noise, but I quite like the way it sounds so mechanical.

Just realised I worded that sentence pretty poorly. I actually meant to write 'I quite like the way the music sounds so mechanical', but hey ho.

His voice does grate after a while sometimes, but it seems to fit.
