probably the GOAT album to be completely honest

I'm on board with that. It's inconsistent and gets a bit repetitive, but it's still the GOAT.

Know Your Enemy has the most random awesome solo ever

I like the album, but I agree with what you said about it being inconsistent and repetitive. Evil Empire is a little better imo

Evil Empire is best. I like RATM but definitely don’t love. Renegades is totally zzzzzzz...
Soundgarden and Audioslave are so much better. Yes, Audioslave. That’s right. Fuck you gonna do about it?

yeah I like Audioslave's first album more than any RATM album. Their other albums blow though

And I laugh in retort because you’re wrong.

First album is def best. Slaughters any Rage album. Yeah Revolutions is pretty mediocre, but Moth fucks. And Out of Exile is a great fucking album.

Hell no. I mean, it's a decent little rock mainstream album, sure. But it doesn't have the visceral impact of any of the Rage albums OR the preceding Soundgarden albums.

All good in the hood, man. I’ve seen your posts on this site in the year I’ve been here and think you’re one of the better posters here. That said:
Soundgarden > Audioslave > RATM
I’m not arguing that Audioslave is better than Soundgarden, I’m
Not stupid. But they are both better than RATM. Maybe helps that I saw Audioslave live four times during the first two album tour cycles (Once was a Lollapalooza show when it was still a touring fest — Audioslave, QOTSA, Incubus and Jane’s — was an amazing night).
Rage is all politics. They sound amazing but the lyrical/thematical content tends to bore me. Audioslave is the amazing instrumentals of Rage combined with Cornell’s stellar songwriting, lyrics and performance. How you gonna tell me Zack > Cornell? It’s no fucking contest. Zack just faded into obscurity with nothing left to say apparently.

Zack > Cornell for the same reason that David Lee Roth > Sammy Hagar. Obviously Cornell and Hagar are great vocalists, but they didn't have the attitude that their predecessors did and the attitude was what carried those performances even if you didn't think much of their lyrics.
Audioslave had neither the groove, energy and attitude of RATM and early-Soundgarden nor the pure songcraft of later Soundgarden.

And let's be real, nothing Audioslave ever wrote is close to as good as KITN, Bombtrack, Know Your Enemy, or Wake Up. Album might be inconsistent, but the highs on this album are pretty damn high.

I love Morello's musicianship but his robotic solos annoy me to no end. It still works sometimes in the context of their music though.
|

Audioslave isn't even close to RATM. Audioslave's first record had a couple bangers but the rest of their stuff sucks. Literally every rage album slaps
