not too worried about their next record. even though this was their worst, its still pretty good, and Faustian Echoes fucking ruled. so bring it on.

allow me to be the voice of dissent and say this is a way stronger effort than Pale Folklore

Pale Folklore is so far ahead of this

to me pale folklore just sounds like a very immature album for them, and marrow has always sounded like a matured blend of the three styles found on folklore, mantle, and ashes. also folklore's production hasn't held up over time, and imo the vocals on it are subpar compared to later releases

You cant get a much more mature debut than Pale Folklore, and if anything it has elements that appear
on the next three albums.

pale folklore is a lot of things but calling it "mature" is probably a bit of a stretch. in fact id say the amatuerness is what kind of makes it enjoyable.

i mean the drums go off beat all the time, they make mistakes on the guitar a few times too, and of course I SAW THE NIGHTFALL, but even with all that it's still lightyears better than this.

there are other reasons why i would disagree with that sentiment, but i think i only have to quote:

"I saw the nightfall

It called to me like a river of shadows

It sang to me with the cries of a thousand ravens

That blackened the sky as they took flight

And sank the Sol"

edit: as mentioned above, but was posted before i typed :3

I would agree contextually that folklore is a more mature debut release (though that's not entirely

accurate since they had two EPs and a few demos before it) than most bands accomplish, but it

definitely does not hold up to their later records

agreed about PF not being very mature. it still has some amazing songs though, as does this
