Every record they’ve released since The Beyond has been a classic or close to it.

"Overall, neurosis is probably better than ISIS"

Dicey territory.

Cult of Luna is the best band in the genre, the newest album seals the deal

They've been on a home run since The Beyond, it's one of the best and most consistent discographies out there, plus diversity in sound

i think so too. this is pretty my much platonic ideal of post-metal. i guess that means a 5 is in order.

CoL has a consistent discography but I wouldn't say the best.

Though I don't think this band has a terribly consistent output either but they wrote this album so that's cool.

That guitar lead in The Other kicks way too much ass. Definitely one of my favorite ISIS moments ever.

I'll just say that CoL is one of the first three bands you mention when telling the story of post metal. Isis has the weakest discog but have Oceanic and Panopticon, Neurosis has a long run and is basically the first, also TSIB / ASTNS.

Then CoL who are on like a seven album tear where you'll find people defending with resolve and violence any given album from the Beyond on, with no signs of slowing down or diminishing returns. They get my vote.

Though Rosetta's god-trilogy still trumps all.

id man, I like every Isis album better than every Cult of Luna album I've heard except Salvation, which I'd put above Celestial and equal to Absence. Luna just don't have the sonic palette the others do -- I think it's the keys that really bring Isis to life for me.

Its more of an indictment of their longevity than their quality. I like Isis much more than Neurosis.

Same here, I still think CoL is the best band in the genre just because of their quality/consistency and the fact that they're still together

Nothing CoL has done has given me the feels like Isis or Neurosis. It's partially a shortcoming of mine that I haven't embraced CoL yet but the heart wants what the heart wants.

I mean it's memorable for me and pretty good stuff, just a step below ISIS and neurosis
