Yeah there’s usually a bump in activity this time of year.

State of Sputnik happened around this time two years ago.

It's a shame skinny love has an overplayed cover. Kind of ruins the song for me.

this is like a standard crybaby folk album with five classic songs on it

second album is more of a consistently interesting trip for me

“Creature Fear/Team” is the only sub-classic thing here.

I remember this coming out in 2008 and it really got lost in the shuffle for me - thought it was a 3 out of 5 for about a year. I didn't buy his authenticity, didn't buy the emotion - I still don't really, but the songs were much better written than I realised at first.

The second album I liked the soundscapes and that is his strength...but the two new ones have just gone too far in their 'artful deconstruction'. "Ho ho, I've left traces of the song that would have been - can you still find it?" - yippee for you mate.

You know the posh restaurants that do deconstructed desserts like Eton Mess or Apple Crumble where the crumble is just a few sprinkles of biscuit dust...the last two albums are the indie equivalent of that. Which is fair enough but all a bit passable for me.

So clevuh

yeah he got weird. I still generally enjoy his stuff, but something in his brain has become disconnected

Said it before, and I'll say it again. West and Blake are the worst things that happened to this once beautiful man.

I could write a follow up letter - I just, y'know, don't think about Justin so much these days :'(
