I actually never think about what people actually look like on here. I just assume they wear a poster-size picture of their avatar over their face at all times.

Snipe, I actually imagine you being cedric bixler-zavala way back when he was your avatar
ATDI-era Cedric of course

I will take that as a compliment for sure haha. Yeah, I don't really look like a Bannon album cover irl.

around 'homewrecker' i get a little tired of his vocals (and kinda the album as a whole) though because i'm a pussy--i find myself clinging to the first four songs

Dude the whole thing is amazing back to front. Homewrecker onward is so fucking intense, and that's when the album starts to make my heart race. By the time the last refrain of "I'll take my love to the grave" is over, the album reaches this plateau of perfection that very few albums ever do. From then on, I am no longer just listening to this album; I AM this album.

i just dont think my brain is made to listen to these albums in long bursts--four songs or so is fantastic, then i shut off, so i guess this is a 'it's not you it's me' matter. that doesn't mean there aren't things i enjoy in the latter half: 'the broken vow', 'phoenix in flight' and 'thaw' all give me enjoyment. but, really speaking on how much i enjoy this album front to back, i might have to drop to a 3.5
but there's some REALLY good stuff here.

Understandable, that's how I feel about a lot of post-rock. I just can't get past two 6-8 min songs.
And yeah chambered, when I listen to it, it's like there is literally a tortured human soul trapped behind all the fuzz and drums and vocals. It kind of puts me in a trance tbh, and it's always amazing.

I need someone to clarify something for me: Why is this band and this album worshiped to an almost unbelievable degree? I've listened to Jane Doe over 12 times and have yet to understand its appeal. Its like somebody put pure hatred, distortion and trash altogether then sold the album. I honestly don't get it and I've been listening to music for the last 12 years. I'm into Drone, Sludge, and Death Metal in general.. why can't I seem to "get" this album? I almost feel like I should have gotten something out of this album, but it must have eluded me.

Try again when you are experiencing the emotions the album deals with firsthand, i e after a nasty breakup. That's how it clicked for me

Idk dude, this is just the most powerful embodiment of anger and pain I've ever heard. It takes a while to get to the album hiding underneath the fuzzy guitars and cymbal crashes, but once you get there, shit seriously will knock you off your feet.
Edit: Also, reading the lyrics through a few times while listening will reallllly help.

Trust me, it'll be a 5 eventually. It just grows and grows and grows.. then BAM, you're in love.

It really is like "wow, I'm starting to really like this" and then later "okay seriously this is awesome" and then one day Homewrecker comes on and you don't even believe how awesome it is.

Hell, I was already in love with this before I realized how amazing the title track is.

I can respect that even though I can't understand it.
