Listened to this album again to see if I had changed my opinion on it or if the colab single is just not really my thing, but nah, this album absolutely slaps.
First half of the track is just incredibly boring to me, around 2min mark it picks up a bit tho

In any case, these are the links to wolf skin and lightfinder that wouldn’t otherwise appear on the app

I need to recheck this. Collab single with Silent Planet kicks ass, but I remember being way more ambivalent about Heavener. Felt very same-y towards the end

Which my 3.5 rating reflects LMAO

Interesting, I never heard Lightfinder or Wolf Skin before.
To me it feels like they hadn't fully settled into their sound yet but it definitely still has a lot of those signature Invent Animate vibes going on.

As somebody who heard those when they came out, I'd say that was exactly their sound and then Everchanger and Stillworld just expanded on that and perfected it

jamming the collaborative track again and i kinda hate the lyrics lmao like i know thats not why anybody should be listening to any of these bands but theres a whole verse where they just self reference all the song titles on superbloom and heavener and its soooo corny i really hope they dont lean into that more on the rest of this stuff

Rejammed this today and the bonus tracks, still amazing.
I wish I liked...any of their albums as much as this really. The collab track is just fine.

While they are obvs different, how do you like this and not their first two

i see where the perspective comes from since, beyond just the increase in cleans, this is much more rhythmic centric in its riffing. im pretty ride and die for the first two though, they practically run through my veins ive heard them so much, yet still retain all their magic every time i return to them

The bonus tracks / definitive edition of this album increased my enjoyment of this album dramatically. Sleepless Deathbed goes so hard

"While they are obvs different, how do you like this and not their first two"
This riffs on this are kinda nonexistant compared to their old material (rip tappy tappy notes) but the vocals are a big upgrade for me and this album sounds massive. Plus I think the more gazy approach works really well for them. I don't dislike their older albums but if I want that style I'd rather just jam Augment instead while this is different.
