I think he could still reproduce his growl if he wanted to. You can hear his old growl in Garden of the Titans down there "in the distance", but he is favouring his clean singing to the point where it bleeds into the growl. I believe he also doesn't properly project the growls into the mic, he is always looking at the guitar. Again, it's probably placed in a position that favours clean singing... I think?

Official live stuff can always be overdubbed though

I've seen them live quite a few times since like 2004. I was even at the garden of the titans show
His growls have definitely gotten worse live

" I was even at the garden of the titans show"
Were they worse than the final album?
I've last seen them in 2014 and I had a blast with stuff like Advent / April Ethereal / Grand Conjuration.

Probably not much difference since the since he's been doing a lot less growing live for years now but I will also say its easier to tell on the DVD that they're weaker than it is in person

Fleeting Glance and Era are the best tracks on here. Also the bonus tracks are great as well, better than some songs on the actual album lol

Kinda accurate. Persephone is great too, and the bonus tracks are highlights as well. Era and The Wilde Flowers need a bit to get going, so I'm a little on the fence in their case

Wilde Flowers takes about 2 minutes but once it gets started it's great.
That outro as well, easy album highlight.

Will O' the Wisp, The Ward and Spring MCMLXXIV are the highlights for me. Too bad production is so awful...

The Ward and Spring should've been on the album instead of bonus tracks. And yeah shame about the production.

Thoughts on the new song? I absolutely love it, already sounds better than anything off Sorceress.
That outro is just gorgeous.

The production on this is a step down from Pale Communion, but I have no idea where the sentiment that it's bad began; it's still much better in that regard than most of its contemporaries (and most of the band's own catalogue)
The new song is quite good and has a distinctly 'Opeth' feel, with or without growls, which is nice to hear as an old fan of the band

outro was ok the rest was meh. reminded me of a less shitty cusp of eternity.
and nah it doesn’t touch era, will o the wisp, or spring 1974

Yeah I agree, definitely has that "Opeth" feel to it. Something I think was lacking in Sorceress.

That solo at the mid-point of the new song is just as good as anything on their classics.
