The first track is really good. But his voice gets on my nerves after a while.

I just mean that he's trying to sound sort of immature. 'Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe' is a pretty obnoxious (albeit resonant) lyric without any context, and I think the nasally voice suits it.

sing about me is by far the best here lyrically but his hook is so nasally and like offbeat it always sounds weird to me

@oltna Uh. No?

@FourthReich I can see that. Sing About Me does get grating after awhile. I need to check Danny Brown out.

Really like the album, still digging it a lot a year later, but there's still something about it that feels really monochromatic and makes it hard for me to listen the whole way through.

It's like he made Backseat Freestyle as a way of saying, hey, I can still make songs that sound like Section 80, but you're not going to hear another one on this album and I'm going to be using slinky beats that fade away into the background the rest of the way, at least until the last track. Just a heads up.

So yeah, good stuff, but I'd take Section 80, or the new Danny Brown, over this any day. A little more attitude and a little less introspection can be helpful sometimes.

Basically when any young artist (below 30) tries to get too deep with their lyrics iit just sounds superficial and kinda corny. He lacks that feel you get from old school artists that they actually have something to teach you with every line and seen just filling in rhymes to beats. But he's pretty good, ESP compared to modern mainstream, that's just why I think he's over rated.

So coming on a year since this came out, I still stand by my feeling for it. Except my favorite song off it is now The Art of Peer Pressure.
