No fair, you can't carry over bad behaviour to a competing site. I'm a model citizen over there

Watched the Death documentary last night. Pretty good stuff, but, this album is way better. ;)

Is there anything in it about a supposed disagreement/fight between Chuck and Masvidal? I've heard the assumption that some lines on The Philosopher may be related to that (especially that one with the sexuality)

I'm guessing I'm the only one here who thinks Chuck's vocals aren't very good, yeah?

One of the best and most influential DM vocalists, in my opinion

it always sounds like he's just trying reeeally hard to follow some rigid strained technique that his vocal instructor taught him. he doesn't sound flexible or relaxed, but rather a bit orchestrated.

welcome to DM bro

lol I listen to soo much DM. most vocalists just sound so much stronger and confident than Chuck. he usually sounds like he's in pain, but not in a "going all out" kind of way
|
| |
I actually agree with what you're saying about him. but to me he sounds the same as 99% of any other DM vocalists. which is the main reason I struggle to like the genre

he sounds closer to thrash than death imo. Death has like two albums that I actually feel comfortable calling DM. The rest is proggy thrash
|
| |
His vocals are serviceable. The music is what I really enjoy personally

His vocals, along with Jeff's, were crucial to DM's aesthetics

Yeah the vox get the job done, but it's definitely not why I listen to Death. For what it's worth I can sort of see what butt is saying, yet I'd still call all their stuff DM with the exception of TSOP and maybe Symbolic (which is still prog/DM, but it's a little further removed from the core sound than the previous albums).

Symbolic is like a prog version of a Slayer album imo. Which is awesome and it's fantastic, but nothing about it resembles DM to me. But compare that to Scream Bloody Gore, it's a night and day difference. SBG is straight up DM
