so how bad is the new one? I was expecting a decent record but then I saw it's actually a double album and I don't think there's any way they can pull off 70 minutes of worthwhile material.

The first disc is solid, second disc has some pretty blah tracks but the last song on the second disc is the best thing Metallica has done since their heyday imo

@Lucca Kirk's solos are just so bland nowadays IMO. That's what irks me. They're the equivalent of unseasoned chicken.

I agree with DarkSide that the last song on the second disc titled "Spit Out the Bone" is easily the best song they have put out in awhile.

I think alot of people forgive disc 2 cuz of that song. Too bad only that song is as good as halo on fire or moth into flame.

"Plus James sounds incredible on it"

Agreed, James hasn't sounded so good since probably Black Album.

yea, he sounds really good. also he still has a knack for coming up with catchy hooks, sadly the cringey lyrics kinda ruin them most of the time.

@jeet - Yeah, I get that. I still think Lars is more noticeably awful, Kirk is whatever.

@Darkwatch - m/

@Metalrain - I mean, I personally like Spit Out The Bone more than those, but yeah Mouth Into the Flame is also awesome.

James sound good, better than usual, but I don't think he's capable of sounding incredible anymore tbh

listening to the "unmastered" version of this and it's much more tolerable. but lars' kick sounds like a wet fart

a lot of these songs overstay their welcome, just too long......and there's something about the first 3 songs where i don't want to revisit them.....i still love TDTNC and everything after Cyanide though

Album rules. Would be a 4 if it wasn't the worst produced album I've ever heard
