It's a great intro track yeah but not one with a lot of replay value.

This album for me is a great example of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts

Eternal Worm is great, it's the track that kept me coming back to try the album after I really didn't enjoy it on my first few jams. Whole album is fantastic. Need to jam it again... it's been a while but it usually puts me in a not so great mood.

The Unnatural World is just as good as this btw, it doesn't have the highlights but it's more consistent/listenable.

3.5 is my "average" rating (only because I usually don't listen to stuff I don't think I'll dislike), albums with that rating are very enjoyable but lack that extra punch or consistency to say I love them.

Ghandi you're probably just holding yourself more closely to the words Sput associates with each rating than I do then

It just makes sense that the average on a 10 point scale would be 5. Nothing wrong with anything else though.

Ghandi what I figure is that if I listened to all music indiscriminately, without considering the opinions of others or what my general taste is, then my average would be 5/10 if not lower. I rate based on what I think the quality of each album is, I'm not trying to fit what I listen to into a perfect distribution on the 10 point scale. The "average" album I listen to is better than what I consider to be an average album overall.

In other words, my taste > yours ;-P

"I rate based on what I think the quality of each album is" Who doesn't do this???

"I'm not trying to fit what I listen to into a perfect distribution on the 10 point scale."From what you say, I think your distribution is more perfect then mine. You treat 2.5 as the average of all music and not personal average.

" The "average" album I listen to is better than what I consider to be an average album overall. "
My 2.5s are "my" average album too xD. What is the true average album overall is probably my 1.5s (most art is bad and doesn't get much attention)
"The "average" album I listen to is better than what I consider to be an average album overall. " Yes, because you are good at researching music :D

I see no reason not to use 2.5 as "your" average. It helps people looking at your rates to see your taste. (a greater range is used) I assume you have 4s you consider to be allot better than other 4s. A wider range would help make your taste clearer.
